I ate at the Mexican buffet during the happy hour on Monday, generous enough for my dinner. I used the washing machines and dryers for free on the floor while staying in my room with a kitchenette. I grilled food at the outdoor fire pit and grill in the evening.

Private space for the dog

I utilized the fenced backyard for my dog to run around while I tossed a ball in the open grass. We parked our two cars in the private driveway instead of on the street. The three-bedroom house also had a kitchen equipped with various supplies which we used throughout the week.

I walked the two floors of the glass art gallery while staying in a room with a direct view of the battleship. Complimentary fresh fruit and bottled water sat in the hallway leading to my room each day. During my stay, I ate at the restaurant and opted for the special chef's tasting counter experience.

I watched the sunset from the rooftop Grain restaurantwith a large outdoor terrace with floor-to-ceiling city views. My room on the 20th floor overlooked the Elizabeth River, and I walked to the downtown waterfront after settling in. I ended my evenings with cocktails at the raw bar in Saltine, which served fresh seafood daily.

I used the pancake making machine at breakfast each morningwith many options alongside scrambled eggs and bacon. My suite featured a separate sitting area with a couch and desk, plus large screens in both rooms. I spent time in the indoor pool to relax after walking to nearby restaurants. The front desk staff assisted me with postage stamps during my stay.

Early bags for the morning flight

I picked up a breakfast bag in the lobby before I caught the shuttle to ORF for my morning flight. The airport shuttle ran every 30 minutes starting at 4am, and the front desk staff scheduled my ride when I requested it. I cooled off in the heated pool after I arrived.

I charged my phone overnight using the wireless charging docks on the nightstands in my room. While I grabbed breakfast, I mixed farm-fresh vanilla yogurt with items from the toppings bar. Since I needed to heat leftovers, I walked to the front desk where I used the public microwave. I parked my car in the free parking lot located directly outside the front entrance throughout my stay.
